Ceramic or Alnico V Nailbomb
« on: November 22, 2011, 04:53:38 PM »
I'm going to be ordering a set of Nailbombs for a guitar with Maple top, Swamp Ash body, Rosewood neck and fretboard.  I'm just wondering if the Ceramic or Alnico Nailbomb would be better suited.

That depends on what kind of music you play. The alnico version sounds more organic and has more mids, the ceramic is tighter.

I play a lot of hard rock/prog metal, but I also play a lot of clean/ambient stuff as well.

I have an A-Bomb in my Les Paul and it's amazing, but seeing as it is a much warmer instrument than the other guitar, I just don't want the highs to be overbearing.

You can get the ceramic one and then compare it with the Alnico one, see which fits better.
