VHII Bridge - Runnin' With The Devil
« on: January 28, 2006, 09:22:52 PM »
Here's a clip of the VHII doing some Van Halen 1. I didn't want to nail the tone exactly though as that would've required post EQ and masking the real tone of the pickup/amp, so I left that intact. My guitar is in the left speaker until the solo when it switches to the right.

Again, the master volume is at bedroom volume level.

cheers guys  :D

the playing is really lazy on it (I haven't bothered to play the chorus riff tightly like the original) but it's so fun to record stuff with this amp, I wasn't bothered at all about playing it right!

I use a custom built one, here's the spec:

Neck: Warmoth Jackson style (pointy headstock, ebony/maple, sharkfin inlays). Graphite nut, and locking Schaller tuners.

Body: Warmoth Stratocaster style, routed for H S H/AH (room for angled humbucker or normal humbucker in the bridge). Painted with hazard markings like my phaser pedal in my avatar.

Trem: Black Wilkinson vintage strat style trem. Graphtech saddles.

Pickups: Calibrated VHII set, the bridge pickup is angled towards the bridge on the side of the treble strings.

Scratchplate: brushed aluminium diamondplate

Controls: 500k volume, mid boost control, 500k neck tone control, and a small miniswitch for tapping the pickups outside coils only. 3 way switch (with middle position = both pickups on in parallel).

I really need to take some pics of the guitar, I'll post them as soon as I get my hands on a decent camera.

Great tone man.

With soundclick, it's best to link to the song page and not to the stream, as some firewalls seem to wreak havoc with the stream link!

Marshall 1959slp, everything on 10. I've modded the amp quite a bit though, with a metroamp Dagnall OT, handwired circuit board and NOS tubes.

I fitted a PPIMV (post phase inverter master volume) to the amp, so I could get a decent sound at any volume level. The clip was recorded at bedroom levels.
