Looking for a set of pups for the RG/JEM Hybrid
« on: December 11, 2011, 02:27:09 PM »
Any suggestions?

Looking for something for lots of tight distortion and to use with the built in sustainer that is in the neck.

Currently is loaded with Seymour Duncans.

Middle - Seymour Duncan STK-S2 Hot Stack

Bridge - Seymour Duncan JB SH-4 Bridge.

Looking for more focus and high output for use when I record.

Interesting...

Would these two sit well together then?

Depending on the amp and pedal set up you have, a Cold Sweat bridge would be tight enough to pile on all the gain you need. If you need more, look at the Ceramic Nailbomb.

For the middle, Trilogy Suite (if you opt to not split the humbucker) or Irish Tour (if you opt to split the humbucker).

Cheers Stephan

Amp wise I switch between these in the studio. Cornell Plexi 7, Jet City 50H and 2x12 matching cab, Mesa Studio Preamp and occasionally a Mesa Lonestar Special 2x12 for cleans / overdrive.

Pedal wise I use a Klon, a G2D Morpheus and a Keeley DS-1 with Seeing Eye mod.

CS should have enough gain with these amps - Plexi-type amps normally do not like too much output from the pickups. The J50H should have enough gain anyway.

I think in the new year I'll have to try some of these out in this guitar.
