Pickup suggestion for an RGT220a?

Hey all, I've just bought an Ibanez RGT220a and it should be here very soon. It has a 5 piece maple/wenge neck through, with ash wings and a rosewood fretboard. I'm guessing that it will sound fairly bright.
Im looking for a pickup that can do modern metal and rock, and with good cleans. Also, I seem to like the lower output pickups better, so I was thinking the black dog, but i'm very open to suggestions. Thanks

I would get either Painkiller's or Aftermath's :)

Its sort of hard to spend under 1000 for a prestige in Australia so I think I got a good deal with it.
I have an aftermath in another guitar of mine and I love it, but I just want to try something else with this one. Thanks for the input though, I'll keep the painkiller in mind.

If you're not downtuning the Painkiller might be on the bright side. Did you take a look at the Holy Diver?

Haha, I have a holydiver in the neck in my other guitar as well. I love that too but again, I'm looking for something different. Preferably vintage hot.

Agreed to your impression that this guitar could be very bright - 5 piece necks are very stiff and rigid usually which can make for a very sustainy guitar which does not resonate much.

Black Dog seems to be an appropriate choice if you are set on having something vintage hot (never played one though). I could imagine the Crawler working well in that guitar.

They're the middiest vintagehotpickup in the range. Still good highs though, looking at the eq-chart.
