nfe, you are trolling.  Though you are doing it in a wonderfully passive agressive way.

You don't care about the man or subject to any great extent or have any direct experience of dealing with the man.

Yet you criticise those who have. Maybe part of your position is admirable but don't use it as a shield to hide the self serving part of what you're doing.

Being a self-appointed "Jiminy Cricket" doesn't change anything but if you're having fun doing it - at least admit it.

Your fun is derived from the anticipation of the responses you're quick to comdemn.

Naaaaah. That's not trolling. Making posts you don't agree with to get a reaction or making statements you do agree with but where you expect the majority to diametrically oppose is what makes trolling, no? My requests for Davey to justify his position, which I find genuinely repugnant, are entirely sincere. So to is my saying his comparison to Hitler is laughable. Had I posted the initial remark expecting loads of people to argue it, that'd be trolling as I think of it - I didn't, I posted it expecting pretty much everyone to agree (and only one cat has disagreed - another misread it) given there's been good wholesome backlashes at people posting stupid "good riddance" rubbish even on places like SevenString, where preferring Bernie Rico Jnr to Ibanez can lead to death threats

I don't think whether I care about Ed Roman (and I've said I think he's an arse, but am pretty indifferent to him) is at all relevant. It's the principle of being glad a person who's not really done anything particularly grave in the grand scheme of things is dead that was in question.

I've affirmed, not denied, that there's some fun in it. Mostly the hope of getting even more silly answers, but that doesn't mean it's trolling. At all. The root of it is not fun, the root of it is thinking people should defend daft statements.

Perhaps much of it is lost in text, it'd be noted I speak to all my friends EXACTLY how I write on forums (with equal verbosity, to their chagrin, I'm sure) and it's entirely jovial. Including telling them they're stupid and have repugnant ideas. And I'm not doing it to get a laugh then either - it's to try and force people to justify things that they say. It's how we understand other people's opinions, after all.

So another person's emotional disposition toward the dead matters to you?

Thankfully you display the Wisdom of Solomon and the eloqence of Oscar Wilde otherwise that behavour could become onerous...

Very worthy if it is productive but I'd suggest the main lesson to be learned from Ed Roman could be that "Life's too Short"

Ehhh.. "Little Jimmy Krankie" is a Scot who often acts like a child yet enjoys adopting strange positions while f**king around with others just for self gratification.

Can't see any connection there.

He had something in common with Mr Kim - hatred of South Koreans.

At least that's how I always interpreted his contemptuous comments about "import" guitars.

(Oh yeah, forgot to say RIP.  Kim and Roman, I guess.)

Step away from the keyboards people.

Remember it's just an internet forum, getting worked up about it is really not worth it.

Chill.

Personally i couldnt care less whether hes died or not.

But it IS very wrong to go around saying you are glad.

It is a very insensitive thing to do.

How do you think his close family feel? They don't wan't to see keyboard warriors battling on against the memory of their recently lost family member.

Its childish and pathetic.

If you didn't like him fair enough, if you did thats also fair enough but think of the bigger picture.

If someone close to you had died would you want to hear about people bashing them regardless of what theyve done in the past?

It is odd that, given that many of us profess to be atheists, that we keep writing RIP when somebody dies.  Remember: nam post mortem nihil est, ipsaque mors nihil.

How could I have forgotten?

I am instinctively atheist, but I'd be quite happy not to be.  Let's keep the afterlife options open!
