A challenge for you wiring eggheads!

Hi all.

So, I've decided to make something a bit interesting out of my single-pup RG7321.

The setup is this:

1 humbucker (4-conductor of course. Seymour Duncan JB 7)
2 DPDT miniswitches
1 volume pot.

The idea is, to have one miniswitch act as a coil tap and the second act as a solo switch. I have wired it up with a combination of the following schematics:

Now, the coil tap works like a charm, but the solo Switch doesn't work. Could it be any of you lads know what I'm doing wrong?

Doesn't work in what way? Doesn't bypass or doesn't pass any signal at all? A picture of your cavity would probably help. Have you got that jumper installed on the switch?

I have the jumper installed on the solo switch, yeah, if that's what you mean. Granted, this is a bit confusing without pics  :lol:

There's a fine signal going through, but the solo switch just doesn't do anything. It's supposed to bypass the volume pot and send a pure signal from the pup's hot output straíght to the output, but it doesn't.

Check continuity between poles on that switch to make sure it operates the way you need it to. It should only have 2 positions if that helps any. Those 3 position ones aren't going to do this switching job. I don't think.  :?

Ehm, I'm a bit dumb it seems :/

I'm sloshed, Loomer. Ok. If you have a multimeter, check from the middle to the outside soldering point for each position. If you check for ohms(if you don't have a continuity setting), you should see the circuit open and close. If you have a messed up switch or you held the soldering iron on there too long or whatever, you'll see that. I have certainly hgeld the iron too long on those little switches myself, resulting in a non-functioning unit.

Have you tried using the solo switch on the clean channel?

As i cant imagine it would really give any kind of noticeable boost with a high gain kinda sound as the signal is pretty compressed

if you require the solo switch to over-ride the coil tap switch and make it full series connected humbucking  when it bypasses the volume pot etc then you will need a Triple pole double throw switch, so that the coil tap can be switched out again as you throw the switch to bypass the controls
