Now, I love Andy Summers, but six and a half grand for a tribute tele???  How can that possibly be justified?

They have one of these in Guitar Village for about £4k. They've had it in stock for over a year and have dropped its price quite a few times.
I think I hate being indecisive.

it's not justified, but some fool will probably buy one.it's like all those les pauls named after various stars going for insane money, i'm not sure you can 'engineer' a collectors item.each to his own though.

I must admit: I quite like this guitar bit will never pay five grand. They aim at collectors, and sure some will buy this, but do they take such a expensive piece on stage? I doubt it. Anyway, this starbranding gets a bit ridiculous with these prices. And there has to be no star involved to sell non-vintage Fenders for crazy money. Look at this:

If anyone buys one, I have a guitar case that belonged to Andy Summers which you can have to put it in.

I don't really see the problem with these collectors guitars - after all no serious player is going to buy one and use it as a gigging guitar (well maybe).  Something like this is eventualy just going to adorn the wall of a rich but true fan.  Is it objectionable to buy gold and platinum disks from a band you love?  Signed photos?  Why (if you are an exec of a merchant bank) not a mock up of their guitar?

Of course, if it were me, and I played in a Police covers band, I would get a CV 60s Squier, put a humbucker in it and give my 3 year old son free reign with a chisel to do the relicing.

I don't get it either. How can you sell a guitar for that amount when it isn't an antiquity, hasn't been played by anyone famous, hasn't got any exotic rare woods or extreme hardware. As I see it the only thing that can bump up the price is the, hopefully, many hours of excellent workmanship behind the guitar.

I must admit that I would have considered the Rory Gallagher signiture....Untill I seen one up close, far to clean and "designed" looking.

All completely academic considering I can barely afford the minimum amount of alcohol to keep myself healthy.
It wasn't a mistake, it was chromaticism, I swear.

I played one in the shop and that guitar had great vibe and tone, I must admit. Of course it's still a replica.
