The awesome Danny Gill

Just spent a great winter break in the company of my family and, when they let me have time out, the awesome Danny Gill - OK not personally, but I have been going through some Lick Library DVDs I bought ages ago and never played until now.  If you haven't tried his DVD's, he's about the best DVD teacher I have come across (along with Stefan Grossman for acoustic) - I actually feel that my tired and sad playing has improved no end (which is probably just an illusion...).

Now, if I could finally finish nailing Hideaway and chicken picking this year, I feel I would have made some progress.

I have a few of his books, but of course I'm too bloody lazy to have worked through them.

They seem much better thought-out than most.

I like Danny's stuff too- I think he does have a very good teaching style. I also like Mike Casswell's Lick Library stuff  but I am a bit biased as I have known him for donkey's years.

Danny comes across well on the DVDs he did for Lick Library
he seems to enjoy the artists whose work he demonstrates or so it seems

I do like his style, I have one of his Hendrix DVDs and found it easier to follow than the Jamie Humphries Led Zep DVD that I also have.

I agree - Mike Casswell and Danny Gill are the two stars of that series - Casswell's Peter Green DVD is great.  I think it is because they manage to be relaxed, rather than formal and sneak the theory part into the lesson, rather than going on about 'this is in the A#diminished Kyoto scale' for what seems like an age.
