I saw the lecture and thought it was very good. If Jim al Khalili's series "Everything and Nothing" and "Atom" show up as repeats on BBC4, they're really worth catching too.

I watch it. I must admire him for his smooth performance, bec it's not easy to keep people's attention with this subject. I didn't understand everything bec of the language (I'm Dutch), but I think I got most of it.

Not wanting to sound like a smart arse, but I didn't think it was great. If I see something else explaining the double slit experiment I'm going to go mad, it's like the Tacoma Narrows bridge on every single engineering programe - gets on your tits after a while.

I know what you're saying, but I don't think those programmes are aimed at people who already have an understanding of the topic.  The double slit experiment is one of the easiest ways of introducing someone to the subject - same goes for introducing resonance using the Tacoma Narrows bridge; there aren't many other accessible examples that are also interesting.  I bet if he started off by talking through the Schrödinger equation most people would switch off right there and then!  I would wager that most of the viewers hadn't come across the double slit experiment before.

Its kind of a really important experiment. I was disapointed with the lack of ultraviolet catastrophe, but explaining the origins of a theory and explaining the things that best illustrate it are very different things. The double slit experiement is a very elegant way to illutrate just how alien much of QM is.
