Need neck pup to pair with Aftermath bridge for cleans?
« on: January 03, 2012, 03:07:09 AM »
need some advice on what to get for a neck pickup in my:

Ibanez RGD 321 (hardtail) http://www.ibanez.com/ElectricGuitars/model-RGD321
Scale length: 26.5"
Body: basswood
Neck: maple/rosewood (board)

I'm looking for a BK neck pup to go with my bridge Aftermath. I'm only interested in using the neck pup for clean playing, no high gain duties needed.  I like open, fat, woody, warm, rich clean sounds. I really like the sound of the center pickup selector position with the neck and bridge together for cleans and low gain stuff, it sounds really open and rich while keeping the character of the bridge pup so when i flip back to the bridge it's not like 2 different worlds. I really like the the Aftermath bridge for cleans, I was surprised at how good clean tones sounded from it, because usually i hate the bridge pup for anything but high gain type work. I also liked the Warpig I had in the bridge for cleans everything sounded really fat and warm when I would run it paired with the stock neck pup that came with my Ibanez. The Ibanez stock neck pup is pretty... well stock lol. I know I can do better.

Let me know what you guys think would work?

EDIT: I'm running an AxeFx II into 4x12 cabs if that matters, cheers! :)

I'm curious if anyone likes the aftermath in the neck for cleans?
