Matrix guitar power amp?
« on: January 15, 2012, 03:46:38 PM »
Hi guys

I've fallen so much in love with my new podhdpro that i consider using it live. I found this british amp company called matrix, because pig destroyer uses them. Have any of you tried one of these amps? Im talking about the gt800fx?

I've heard of them and want to try one to pair up with my Pod X3 Pro. I've read good things about them on the Fractal Audio forum.

You could always buy one and tell us how you get on :D

Matrix have a good reputation for very high powered PA amplifiers.

Having said this I can't see what advantage this amp gives over any other stereo PA amplifier for guitar use, although it is light.

I'm sure 250W per channel into 8 ohms is strictly necessary........

I gigged for a while with a Marshall 200 Watt a side power amp. The only advantage I had was that the sound man didn't need to mic up the amp because you could hear me front of house above the PA. The disadvantage was a loss of top end hearing for weeks after tours.
