Slowly starting to like PRS

After years of being a die hard Fender fan I'm now starting to warm to PRS. MUuch of this can be blamed on Dave - this ME and 2 PS models are very, very, very good indeed.

Just seen this on the GV website and realy like it. Can't quite afford it though  :(

Thought not a PRS-player, I quite like the PRS-approach: good worksmanship, good woods, good acces to the upper frets, stable trem etc. And this amber tigerstripe looks very nice.

OK plan if they don't grow up wanting to play the guitar - else you end up having to subsidise their guitars as well as buying your own.  :(

I'm very keen for all of my kids to want to play guitar or anything musical. My oldest Daughter and only Son are showing signs of this so far - they both like playing around with the piano!

I'm determined not to be a pushy parent but absolutely want to encourage if they show an interest in stuff like this. My parents are great but I was told to "turn it down" more than I would have liked. Perhaps being a guitar and map lover will help me be more understanding!

Also, I'm sure they will get guitars odnated by me so I can go and buy more exclusive stuff!

I remember trying one of Dave's rosewood neck PRSs at a BKP meet. It was lovely indeed. A slightly more plain looking one might be better. They have some interesting features and play/sound well. For me it comes down to the look. Maybe I could stomach some sort of variation on the 305.

its all Dave's fault, I've even went through my gear and finances considering how a McCarty could be had.

btw Dave, have you considered a PRS amp to go with your guitars?

Not once Ian.  The sound clips I've heard of them left me cold, and World Guitars are struggling to sell them so much they've given them away with PS guitars, or offer them half price.

The clips sounded like there was potential in the amps, but they're not quite there yet.  I bet they're very well made - I know they use Mercury Magnetics transformers and Sozo capacitors, so that 'boutique' ethos would run through the full amp I'd imagine.  Not sure of the pricing, but thats likely what kills it for them.  Plus, they're an unknown commodity in the amp world going into the high end without much artist support.

They're £2k+ for the USA amps, and around £1000 for the Chinese SE ones.

A lot of competition at £2k from very well respected builders...
