Help choosing BKp to play death metal
« on: January 23, 2012, 10:51:33 PM »
HI,

I'm new here, I heard about BK for a time now, I'm thinking in getting one for my main guitar. I play a Jackson RR24 (maple neck-thr with alder wings and ebony fret) --- Maxon OD-9 --- ENGL Powerball 2 --- Randall 4x12 loaded with 2 Cel v30's and 2 Cel G12T-75's. I'm looking to get a tone Hypocrisy like (new stuff "A Taste of Extreme Divinity", "Virus"). I was hopping that you could help me choosing the pick up.

Hi and welcome!
I guess this thread should be in 'pickups'. Miracle Man or, with a bit more mids and less bass, C-Bomb. You could look at the Painkiller too if you detune heavily.
Mules, VHII, Crawler, MM's, IT's, BG50's.

Some people like the low end roll off and midrange shift that pedals give.  A good friend of mine runs an SD-1 (modded by me of course, ha ha) into any amp he uses, its the grind in the high mids and the tightening of the bass he loves.

True story. I've pretty much always used boosts other than when I'm playing doom, but it's never been for extra gain.

Frist of all, thank for all tour replies!

I boost brecasse it sounds beter imo, but i dont use any extra gain, the ENGL as a lot of gain!

So you say miracle man or ceramic war-pig right? I play in drop-C, so whisky should i use the miracle or why should i use the pic? Are they that different or not much diference what so ever?

I would say go with a Ceramic warpig. I've got one and I love it :D Tons of crunchy cutting tone perfect for metal!
Jackson DKMG - WARPIGS
