wiring question...wire from bridge to neck volume
« on: January 26, 2012, 08:41:24 PM »
hey guys im about to wire up my new humbuckers "2 Humbuckers, 4 Conductor, Series Wiring - 2 Volumes, 1 Master Tone & 3 Way Toggle Switch" and my question is the wire that connects the two volumes from the bridge or neck pickup? Or is it  seperate wire? to me it looks like it comes off the neck pickup and is soldered to the neck volume then at that same solder point it then goes off to the bridge volume? help!

also can i use electrical tape instead of heat shrink?

Are you talking about the thin grey line that attaches to the blob on the back of the pots?  If so, then that's a ground wire and is separate, although if the neck bucker wire is long enough you could use it.

There's also a ground going off to the three way switch too.

I'm looking at the PDF and can't see the wire you're talking about.  There is no direct wire between the two pots?  What colour is it?

If you're on about the thin slightly curved thin line from the top of the neck volume pot to the top of the bridge pot then as twin said it's the ground wire.

If you dont have a wire you'll need to buy some and solder it into place.
There are 10 kinds of people who understand binary.
Those who do and those who do not.

Anything will do really, you just need a good connection.  Some of the cheap plastic covered wire from Maplin is fine, or the cloth shielded type from an online guitar shop if you're feeling flush!

Have a look here for some.  I've got a lot of small/cheap parts from these guys, they're great for that kind of stuff:
