kemper profiling amp
« on: February 08, 2012, 07:55:37 PM »
http://kemper-amps.com

I think this has been posted before but there are some A/B comparisons on the site, I like it but I swear I can hear a slight bit of synth in the profiled sound. I would hope this is less noticeable in a mix.

One other thing that concerns me is people making profiles in rooms with poor acoustic properties

Not hearing that. It seems to get obviously modellery at the extremities of the internal re-processing but the captures seem pretty accurate to me. More than passable for pre-production and general tracking before reamp at least (if not final sound, which I'm not ruling out until/unless I use one and can judge it in person better).

Bottom line: even a half decent 'save as' for mic location and amp settings = win. I'll probably get one, it would be really useful for me.

Looks like a insane piece of gear, I expect to see "Do not profile" signs in stores soon :D

Doesn't sound a million miles away, doesn't have the crisp midrange crunch of the Recto played early in the video, but I'd imagine it can be tweaked.

Great recording tool and for studios who don't want (or can't afford) dozens of high end amps.

Are there downloads of other peoples amps available or is this just to profile your own amps?

If this came with 10 good amps pre profiled i would consider this.

It has a capacity of several thousand profiles, and it comes with a couple of dozen I believe.

As the profile includes the room sound, I'm curious as to how you don't hear the room twice when using the profile

Looks like a good piece of kit to me. although it's not for me. Too many things to fiddle with = less time to play, and I don't get much of that anyway!
I think I hate being indecisive.

A guy over on the Seymour Duncan Forum has bought 1 of these, I'm looking forward to hearing his thoughts on it.

Holy cow! I scrolled to the end of the first page and thought that was all. Even then I thought it was a lot of profiles!

I still won't be buying one though.

That's A LOT of sims. Like Ian said "I won't be buying one though", but I would love to hear one live.
