Heads up, all: Interesting Ebay Les Paul Custom auction...

She doesn't know what she's got. I can't afford to bid anything on it, but someone here might be able to grab a bargain. Pick-up only, but I am guessing for the right price many of us wouldn't mind making the journey, heh.

Hmmm I trust nothing written in that font.
It wasn't a mistake, it was chromaticism, I swear.

Does the headstock looks right to you? It's a Standard headstock with the Custom's inlay and binding.... The Custom headstock is wider...

And the custom has Ebony fretboard....

I know Gibson's QC isn't the best, but those headstock inlays are WELL off.

I smell a Chinese fake.  Steer clear boys.

I've just messaged her as I'm intrigued and interested if it's genuine. This is what I messaged:

Hi there,

I just thought i'd point out that your start price is very cheap, and I'm worried about bidding as you've got a guitar there that's worth about £2700 new haha.

I've spoken to a few people on the forum about it which worries me as well. It's an Ebony Gibson Les Paul Custom, except it's got a Rosewood Fingerboard not an Ebony, which is featured on the Custom. I just wanted to make sure it's a legitimate Les Paul Custom, and if you could post the serial from the headstock so I can verify it.

Sorry to be an ass, but I'm interested in bidding, but want to make sure.

Kindest regards, Mike

I guess i'll find out soon.

Whether it's fake or not i'd be slightly put off by the fact it's not her's to sell in the first place.
The zero feedback doesn't help much either.

Pretty original though, selling a fake without ever claiming it's the real thing.  But even somebody that knew nothing about guitars would at least put the name from the headstock somewhere in the advert.

It's clearly a fake and someone is trying to play ignorant to make people overbid, believing it's a great bargain.

Might I point out that it is listed as "black guitar" in "other guitars" when a truly guitar-ignorant person would still be able to read the name "Gibson" from the headstock. They clearly know it's a fake.
Current BKPs: Miracle Man, Nailbomb, Juggernaut, VHII
Past BKPS: Holy Diver, Trilogy Suite, Sinner, Black Dog

Headstock's wrong, rosewood board's wrong, horn/cutaway is the wrong shape.

It's a fake, and not even a good one.  I wouldn't be surprised if it turned out to be a bolt-on if we could see the back of the guitar.

I suspect the bidders could be "shill" bidders trying to push up the price.  I hope they're not genuine, because no way is it worth the £415 it's currently going for.

Edit:  And the listing has just vanished!
BKPs I've Got:  RR, BKP-91, ITs, VHII, CS set, Emeralds
BKPs I Had:  RY+Abraxas, Crawlers, BD+SM

Agreed with Alex and since Google exists it's harder to believe that someone would not search the value before putting on eBay...

If it was on a pawn shop of a old man, perhaps he wouldn't... But it's on eBay

If it actually was a genuine girl selling it, maybe my message about the value made her see sense haha. But chances are, it was a scam. I mean you would look it up online. And what guy leaves a Les Paul Custom at his gfs house for months :/

It's either been removed because someone complained or more worringly, it may have been sold with a buy it now price.

Also, if the original owner had wanted his guitar back then you would have lost your money. Buyer beware, it's your responsibility if you buy what is effectively a stolen item.
