NGD....Need pickup suggestions...

Hey All,

I just traded my acoustic Larrivee L-05 for a 2003 Gibson Les Paul Double Cutaway Plus.  The larrivee was an excellent sounding acoustic, but I found myself caring for it....rather than playing it...
The Les Paul plays great, but I'm already getting the BKP bug....
I have a charvel with a warpig for high gain stuff
I have a Gibson SG with MQ's for the P90 stuff

What do you think for this one?

something that would work nice with the mahogany and maple top.
something not as heavy as a warpig, but more organic and great for heavy rhythm riffs..

im thinking nailbombs as ive been wanting a pair for a while now.

Nailbombs will do, you could also think about Rebel Yells.

I don't know about pickups but that is a great looking guitar. Double cuts are my favourite LPs. Nice one my good man.

I must say that you've made a great purchase. Looking at the range of pickups on offer you may want to look into some Mules, as they cover a lot of ground, genra-wise. I feel they'd also suit the spirit of the guitar, also. Maybe a Miracle Man, also. I've heard some very powerful tones from them in like guitars. I must also mention my favourite: the Cold Sweat. I haven't found anything it can't do. Hmm, it seems I can't give you a definitive answer. I guess you'll just have to shop with your ears.:)

Cold Sweats would give you the heavy rhythms with the bridge and would fit the guitar perfectly.

Nice guitar Shag....!! What they say.. Cold Sweat, I gather it from the Russian Circles guitar player that has a double cut Les Paul with CS and has spoken wonders about it. I have always wanted Mules anyways so...!

I say mules or abraxas or if you want to go more modern nailbombs (at least in the bridge).

Hi Chris,  I'm going to suggest 2 picups that you might not have thought about.  I had VHII's in my PRS Artist and they sounded great.  I changed them to mules because I wanted a little bit more of a PAF sound, but I think they woud be great in that guitar.  If it is dark at all, then Rebel Yells might be a good choice too.  They have a lot of upper mid push and are great for harmonic feedback and nice crunchy tones.
