Joyo Amps????

Looks interesting - a Plexi clone and some Fender rip offs.  The internal shots looks like they are using better components than Marshall and Fender currently do?

Wonder how much they cost, if they get past the injunctions....

Never heard of them - some fairly blatant rip offs there though! Especially that Studio Reverb!
I think I hate being indecisive.

Honestly who needs one more Tweed Deluxe or Blackface Deluxe clone?

iirc, ~$750 or so for the smaller fender clones (I'm guessing you'd have to pay postage and VAT/customs on that, though)

http://www.yoosmart.com/musical/amplifier/

they didn't do a plexi clone last time i looked. are you sure it's a plexi clone, though? seems to have a valve rectifier, i thought plexis had SS rectifiers :?

^ actually in europe we probably do need some half-decently priced ones. but unfortunately, while their pedals are cheap enough to take a chance, the amps aren't really in that impulse buy price bracket

I'd love to see a band playing death metal with JOYO written across all the amps :)

To give Chinese manufacturers their due, there's a lot of reasonable valve hifi amps and kits coming out of the country (and a fair few terrible ones too!). The main problems they have are low-quality tubes and cheap capacitors. If you're feeling adventurous and you're handy with a soldering iron then a JOYO could turn out to be a fun amp to mod into something beefier.

Personally, I'd change the nameplate first.

Yeah, hardly any decent blackface clones in the UK, so if they are available it would only be a good thing.
But I agree with Dave_mc, still too much of a risk to buy untried.
All very well having a handwired board but it also depends on the rest of the build quality, like the transformers etc.
If they are on a par with somebody like Weber kits they will do really well.....

yeah exactly

i mean i got a vht special 6 which is basically a fender champ (more or less) and it's handwired, and killer for teh money, but i wouldn't have wanted to pay much more for it than i did (£120 or so) as you can see corners have been cut.

granted these joyos look better (and would need to be at the price), but it's still always at the back of your mind. it's one thing getting a cheap amp if you pay a cheap price... it's another if you pay a pretty decent price. :)

As with all far east amps like this, upgrading the output transformer goes a long way - always the weak link.

For the cash they look great value.

The same can be said for amps made by Fender - except the bit about great value.... 8)
