Yeah, I'm one of the people who's fought with the circuit board.
I did originally cut the old pickups off the plugs and splice the BKP wires on to the trailing leads (fiddling with rewiring the plugs would be a pain without the proper tools). It wasn't pretty but it worked.
Shortly after that I wanted to mess around with different capacitors, though. That would have been well-nigh impossible as far as I could see. So I just took the circuit board out and replaced it all with standard stuff. Much happier now!
In fact, I might be about to swap some pickups around between guitars when I get time, and this SG might be giving up its Riff Raffs and getting the MQs out of another guitar.
