It does the job, but I'm considering trying out the MXR Smart Gate, which I've heard is meant to be very good. The smart gate is a great upgrade from the NS2With the NS2 it's known to suck tone, but with the MXR, I hear that it only shuts off sound when not playing, which apparantly makes it a true gate, as to the NS2 which supresses the noise at all times. If you follow my drift? Thing is, how would I hook it up to gate both in front, and the fxloop of the amp? Or would it require 2?

That sounds pretty awesome with the mods. As i said, my NS2 does the job, but I'd prefer something that could maybe give me more of my tone. I'd obviously try to demo one first as there's no point spending £100 on a new one when there's not much difference with my setup.
you wouldn't use the meat knife on crusty bread but, equally, the serrated knife and straight edge knife aren't going to go through raw meat as quickly
Interesting :) A lot of people have different opinions. Is it really all just personal taste? Perhaps i should buy them all and see which one i like best. Musician's Friend's 45 day return policy could be of some use there :)
Another vote for the ISP here. Contrary to what Tony might tell you, I sometimes dabble in a bit of teh blues, and I find it works very well, although my experience with using it for metal is much more extensive, haha
