Jim Root Tele Project w/(Rebel Yell)

I really like the bk rebel yell sound, and wanted to do a tele project. Wanted to get your guys input. I wanted to use Jim Root Tele Mahogany Body w/ warmoth maple neck. In this application w/ the mahogany body, would it sound too bright? I know if I had alder or ash it would sound bright according to what I've read.

Personally, I think the Rebel Yell is always going to sound bright in a guitar with a bolt-on neck.  But the mahogany will help to warm it up a bit, I guess.

The RY can be hard to tame in bolt-ons, though - as Philly says- the mahogany will add the necessary warmth. Plus, the RY is very sensitive for height, so if you pick that one, experiment a bit to find the sweet spot. Maybe the Holy Diver is an option too.

if I remember correctly, the holy diver was one of the rebel yell prototypes
in a bolt-on maple neck thin guitar, the diver would definitely sound closer to a rebel yell in a les paul than the rebel yell itself

Not much feedback from me I'm afraid, since I haven't tried the pickups in question. I'll just say good luck with it though! The Jim Root sig models are really, really cool guitars, so remember to post the results here!

I completed a Jim Room Tele last year - I kept the body but had a custom paint spray job, had sims Custom shop make a neck (superb neck 12 -16" compound with rosewood baord).
As for the pick ups - I binned those awful EMG's and stuck in a set of Holy Divers with a push pull coil split.
They brightened up the tone and split sound great especially the neck.
This guitar really rocks for high gain but sounds very sweet on clean with the coil split.

My only complaint is the weight is a little on the hefty side for me.

(by the way - I tried a Tone Zone in the bridge and it sounded muddy and fizzy to me!)

The Crawler perfoms well in swampash. Prepare: it has more vintageflavour then the HD.
