What are the best Speakers, and 4x12&2x12 Cabs for METAL?

I have gone through many different guitars, pickups, and amps in the pursuit of getting the tone from out of my cranium, into the air. Now, I know there isn't a, per se, a best cab or speaker, but rather a preference of tone. So if you folks could share with me what your preferred cabs/speakers are for metal, and a brief description why, I will greatly cherish your experience.

I am currently using a Marshall 1960 Vintage Bottom, with the British/Marshall V30s. A knowledgeable friend shared with me that there are 3 types of Celestion V30s. Mesa, Marshall, and Chinese.

Sure you are helping.  I like the V30s as well.  Might try a different cab though.

british celestion v30's for me. You get them almost only in mesa rectifier cabs.
Orange runs with chinese v30's

Earlier this year, my old band toured with another band where the guitarist had put some Fane full-range speakers in an old Malmberg cab. Sounded absolutely monstrous!

Contact Zilla Cabs. They really know their stuff and their products are a lot better that most stock cabs on the market these days. I have 2 Cabs from them: one 2x12 Fatboy with V30s; and the same but 4x12. I originally asked for something similar to a Rectifier Cab, and the result was not only better, the price was less than half. That's a great bargain for something handmade. They've won awards as well since theyre that great quality :)

I personally like 2 x EVM 12L black and 2x Celestion G12K-100 in an X pattern. Tempted by this setup in a Zilla cab, at the minute it's in a Peavey 5150 slant cab, and sounds awesome already - I'm not convinced by the Peavey cab's construction, and I've heard only great things about Zilla!

i've heard of some supposedly good combos, but never actually tried them myself

v30 and g12k100 is meant to work well (tried the v30, just not the g12k100 or both together)
v30 and g12t75 (tried them separately but not together)
eminence texas heat and swamp thang (tried the TH, just not the ST or both together)
eminence governor and man o war (haven't tried either of those)

obviously there are more options than that, but they might be worth considering

Do it! They're great and the pricing is just icing on the cake. I have four different models of theirs, all very well made. The metal frame is about 25% thicker than a Celestions. Not as much of a value overseas, but I am excited to see them doing complete custom speakers soon. You can choose the cone, dust cap, magnet, doping type/amount....

yeah tubetown does wgs, but they're no cheaper (and actually probably are a bit dearer) than celestions, eminence, tayden etc. Granted in the US they're better value and are probably worth considering (never tried them :( ).

I really like the eminence speakers over others that i have tried.

though his eminence prices don't seem to be as good as they were. but the 20% might make the difference :D

Thanks guys.  I am in the US.  Its allot to take in for sure.   I think I'm starting to get it though.  I appreciate the sharing of experiences and perspectives.  I am looking forward to moving in the right direction.
