New neck pickup for my 7 string?
« on: April 08, 2012, 11:11:55 PM »
Hey i want somthing that will give me perfect glassy cleans. I have a miracle man on my bridge (which sounds epic tbh). I have a schecter omen-7. The  low B is tuned down to an A. Yeah so like to sum it all up on my 7 string scheecter omen 7 i want a pickup with perfect glassy cleans (like somthing that will rival a tele or strat :D). But also have that power to shoot off some smooth rhythems. Thanks in advance guys!

Edit: when i say rhythem i mean for metal. But i still want the cleans thanks!

You will probably want to get a hb that will split well (push pull poti ftw). That way you can get both things you want. Donīt really know which will do that though.^^ I hear the VHII splits brilliantly (and even unsplit might be for you), but I do not know how it will hold up for rythms and all, as I do not really know that much about it. I think it is a pretty good bet though.

BKPs in use: 10th set / RY set / Holy Diver b, Emerald n / Crawler bridge, Slowhand mid MQ neck/ Manhattan n
On the sidelines: Stockholm b / Suppermassive n, Mule n, AM set, IT mid

I would never use the neck pickup for riffing. It would sound muddy especially for A tuning. The neck pickup is mainly used for cleans as well as for a smoother sounding solo tone than the bridge pickup. With the miracle man bridge the obvious choice is the miracle man neck although any of the neck pickups from BKP will do exactly what you want although the mm neck is made to balance with the bridge and is the best match. If you don't go with the mm neck the cold sweat is the next best choice.

i strongly suggest mm neck, u will find the cold sweat underpowered in terms of output compared to the bridge. u will get glassy cleans when split, a treat, then activate the push pull / coil tap when u want super shred haha!
