1986 Kramer Baretta for £499 - rip off?
« on: February 07, 2006, 08:09:36 PM »
I've come across a 1986/1987 Kramer Baretta in mint condition for £499.  It's in pearl flip-flop paint, black Floyd Rose Original, single (angled)Schaller zebra humbucker and a maple neck.  The headstock is the pointy type not the banana style.  It's made in the USA and feels absolutely fantastic to play.  I don't think it's been used much since it was new.

What kind of money do these go for?  I know the realy early 1984 models (like EVHs) go for serious cash, but what about the slightly later ones?  Worth buying for £499 and sticking a zebra VHII in?

have a look on Harmony Central and see what people paid for theirs. I think it is perhaps more than its worth, but no overly excessive.

Did flip flop paint exist in '86/'87?

I've had a look on "vintagekramer.com" and it looks like flip-flop existed then - it's in their 85 catalogue.  Must be fairly rare though?

They seem to go for £300ish in the US on eBay.

Hmmmm.  Decisions, decisions...

Kramers (early and genuine) go really well over here).
I was looking at some awhile back.
They are becoming more and more sought after.
Anyway, prices in UK are gonna be more than US.
Check these two sites as they have that kinda stuff and will give ya another idea/clue on pricing.

There's two on jcguitars right now for $600

Hope this helps,
Nick

BTW< I think it's a little too much (but I like real bargains LOL).

Cheers!  I mananged to get them down to £449, but found out that:

It's had a re-fret
It's had some minor electrical work done
It's not got the original case.

I think it's too much cash for what it is, even though it's mint, so I've decided to pass on it.  I might regret it though one day  :(
