I think it's OK for general-production instruments; and after all, lots of great old Fenders have three piece bodies.

But I don't think they should be doing it at Custom Shop prices.

+1

there comes a point where you shouldn't be cost-cutting any more. granted the combination of woods maybe means it's not cost-cutting, but still.

So, they well-meaning Fender-folks seem to be getting the polite "thanks but no thanks" from the hardened BKP-ers for this innovative offering

All I can say (based on the Guitar4You's review of this particular instrument) is I'm glad I haven't had the chance to touch the guitar - he did make it sound like it's a bit of a player...

Yeah, but no more so than all the other CS Strats and Teles he has, I'm sure.

Anyway, I didn't think you were ever going to give in to Custom Shop prices, Andy?

I actually deleted a bunch about that from the previous post.

Nope, still no intention of giving in to that - more likely to go to someone like Jonathan if I was looking to spend that much on one guitar.

But the secret to not giving in is, and always has been for me, don't pick the bluddy thing up if you're not prepared to buy it...

Yeah, you're right..... I have ended up buying most of the really expensive guitars I've tried.  :?

Fortunately I've never tried anything in the league of Dave's PRS Private Stocks.
