What Morley Wah?
« on: April 13, 2012, 08:21:08 PM »
So peeps-could anyone recommend me a good Morley wah pedal? i have a Dunlop Crybaby 535q which is great but the more i do live shows the more i need a wah that i can just step on to activate it (instead of having to 'clunk' it down) also something with an LED would be great for dark venues/stage lighting. So i wanna go Morley on this one-the George Lynch one looks cool and some do the volume pedal thing also which can be useful. Thoughts? cheers :-)

as is typical of me, i will ignore what your asking about and recommend something completely different  :D

I tried a plutonium chi wah wah recently and was VERY impressed/suprised, very tweakable too which i don't believe the morley wah has the capacity for. That being said, while i've not played one, i've heard nothing but good things about the lynch wah.

Edit, whoops, not entirely right there, the morely wah is tweakable. Ignore me.

heeh no worries man :-) thanks for the recommendation -im looking foir something with some tweakability but nothing over the top-i can keep my 535q for recording, etc. I would mostly use the wah metal solos.

Morley's construction is really solid, I have a Tremonti wah which is going into seconds out soon *nudge nudge wink wink* and would quite happily use it as a weapon to fight off a bear. Also the treadle on the Morley wahs are wider which if you have big feet like me you will appreciate. and the switching is very quiet.

I've not tried the Lynch, but it looks awesome.

Bought it for a live solo pedal (has an adjustable gain boost), but the band i was going to use it for broke up, as such it's unused as i only play at home through my Pod.

I had the Lynch Wah (actually a signed one) and it is good, but I liked all my Dunlops better, so I sold it again. Sorry, but I think the Dunlops sound better and have more of a proper "rock" flavor to their sound.

I briefly owned a Bad Horsie - I think I may have sold it on this forum, actually.

Really didn't like it - my fault for getting something that wasn't really suited to what I was playing at the time.  Very metal.

If you play stuff that sounds like Vai, definitely get it!

In terms of construction, they seem like really, really good pedals.

The MXR CAE 404 wah is tremendously good, in sound and versality. I believe Hunter posted some clips in the past.

Ever tried the Dunlop 95Q?
It just lacks the status LED, but plays and sounds like a Dunlop and has the auto switch-on/off function. Had a Morley Tremonti and an Automagic Silver Machine custom wah, but I like the Dunlop much better!
