Heads Up - Sky Arts - Metal Evolution

This was on after the Slash gig last night. It seems to be on most nights. Its an 11 part documentary series examining the history of metal. Sky seem to be showing it in the wrong order though so I just downloaded the lot online. Great series though.

Thoughts I'd give you all the heads up.

Is that the same one with the young Canadian guy? If it is, I about died laughing when he interviewed the vocalist for Gorgoroth. Just hilarious. Went something like....
"What does the music of Gorgoroth mean or stand for?"

very intense eyes.. slowly taking a sip of wine.. wait for it. wait for it... almost at the 1 minute mark...

and in a very serious dark voice...
"Satan"

But yeah, I did watch the series he did after that first documentary he did. Really could have left out the grunge episode.

I'm actually watching the grunge (hate it as a term. Its just alternative rock) episode at the moment. You can see that he actually sees while making the episode that he made a mistake adding grunge as a metal sub-genre. It's still an interesting watch if you have a remote interest in grunge (which I do). A lot of these bands were metal fans. I think this episode and the era it represents would have been better aimed at death/black/grindcore because thats what I think of in the early 90s when it comes to metal.
