Yeah I heard that. I had been aware that he was heading that way. He  was a one off I think.

Yeah, I knew he was on the way.

Still sad to hear, though...

Very sad to hear. It's hard to know what to say, he had a proud life and put up a brave fight. Still, very sad.

He certainly did not give up easily! Fair play to the man for fighting back. And if anyone hasn't seen the Martin Scorsese film The Last Waltz chronicling The Band's farewell concert then run, RUN to you nearest DVD store and buy it immediately.

Definitely, think I'll make some time this weekend and dust it off. If there's such a thing as a 'must see' live recording, the last waltz has to be one.

It would be hypocritical to say I was ever a fan, but sad news nevertheless.  I could see they were a "good" band, just not my cup of tea.
BKPs I've Got:  RR, BKP-91, ITs, VHII, CS set, Emeralds
BKPs I Had:  RY+Abraxas, Crawlers, BD+SM

Fair play, they were always much bigger in the USA than over here but I always loved Robbie Robertson's guitar playing. And this just makes me crack a smile every time.

Great song, never fails to get my foot tapping. One I found today from only two months ago: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i4f9weWSvuA

Bloody lovely. Even when he was ill he never seemed to lose the love of playing and performing.
