fitting a new footswitch into my lazy j cruiser
« on: April 20, 2012, 08:46:08 PM »
hi all,
i need to replace the footswitch in my trusty old cruiser pedal. its been stomped on more times than i've had hot dinners and has finaly given up the ghost.
its not one of the new cruisers, i've had this for around 10 years.
basically i want to know, does the switch have to go in a particular way up? the existing switch has 6 terminals as does the new one, but they are not numbered. so say if they were numbered like this.
 t1----t2
 t3----t4
 t5----t6
would it matter if it was wired in like this
 t6---t5
 t4---t3
 t2---t1
obviously i was going to just unsolder the cables from the old switch and hook it back up to the new switch as it was before.
if the switch does have to go in a particular way, how can i tell which way up is correct?

what kind of switch is it?

from your diagram i presume its just a DPDT.

Just so long as you have 3 rows of 2 as you demonstrated it wont matter about the verticale orientation.
