very nice

keep the rings and take the covers off? if they're black underneath that normally looks awesome with a red guitar (it does on my eggle, anyway).

Thanks for all the comments and suggestions, guys!  :D

I would go double white open coils, Sammy Hagar style!

;)

I don't think I want to do anything to emulate Sammy Hagar in any way.....!

I like this one too Philly - great stuff! Is this the only PRS you have? I know you've bought 8, not sure how many you've got left.

I've got three now Ian - the McCarty Korina, Mira X and now this Standard Satin 22.  All stock at the moment, but I think they're all going to get BKP'd.

(Plus my white SE EG which is a pretty cool HSS guitar but has been awaiting some modifications for a loooong time.... )

The other ones I've sold over the years were a second-series EG, black Mira, korina Mira, Singlecut Standard Satin and Starla X.
BKPs I've Got:  RR, BKP-91, ITs, VHII, CS set, Emeralds
BKPs I Had:  RY+Abraxas, Crawlers, BD+SM

Definitely a Plain Jane.... apart from the Birds (I was a Moons man for a long time, considered Birds excessively blingy, but they have recently won me over!).  But feels good, plays great.

I'm sure you'll love it Philly - I had a Cold Sweat set in my satin Standard and thought they really worked well - really nice guitars and not too blingy.

Cool, I like the trem version too!  :D

Cold Sweats are good on 24-fretters because the neck and bridge models sound so different.  I originally intended the Cold Sweats for the Miras - but ended up selling the guitars before fitting the pickups.

Hmmm, can't say I've ever thought of Sammy as a chick magnet.... maybe running a chain of dodgy beach bars has helped?

Again, not really something I'd aspire to!

Nice one. Even I like it! :D

I'd go for the black pickup rings as well (seeing as I'd stick to covers on the pickups).

And I've never thought of Sammy Hagar as a chick magnet either

Cheers Andy!  :D

I already have chrome-covered Cold Sweats and a set of black pickup rings, so I'll certainly be giving them a go.

If that doesn't work out (sound-wise), I'll try something else - and probably revert to the cream rings with black or zebra open coils.

Plays great, Johnny - as PRS guitars always do, in my experience.  Despite all the "lawyer guitar" bollocks, they're extremely player-friendly (not that I'm a good player, but I've played a lot of guitars!).  They may be pretty, but they always feel broken-in, never stiff or new.

The Wide Fat neck on this one feels a little slimmer than my McCarty - maybe partly due to the thinner finish, but the McCarty has a hint of a V shape and this doesn't at all.

I find the wide fats, and all PRS necks actually, will vary a bit due to the sanding process.  It's the same with any guitar pretty much.

My Modern Eagle has a fairly hefty WF, but the PS SC245 has the biggest I've played.  Tone baby, tone!  8)

Yeah, I think that's true - if I remember right, the Regular neck on my korina Mira felt a little chunkier than the black one.  Although again, there's the psychological aspect of a light coloured object appearing bigger than a dark one (black is slimming!  )

I wasn't sure how much hand-sanding takes place at PRS, they seem much more consistent than Gibson, for example.  Gibson neck profiles - especially Custom Shop, it seems - vary wildly!
