NAD- a quick little project
« on: April 21, 2012, 07:15:26 PM »
Built myself a little Smokey amp today!

Really easy to do, and it took longer to cut the cigarette box than it did to build the circuit (it's only 1 IC, 2 caps, the jack sockets and the speaker). I put a switch in there to run it either in standard smokey mode, or to reduce the gain.... I think I'll be playing it mostly in the low gain mode-- it's really gainy, and with humbuckers, it's loud enough to annoy the people in the next room (and quite buzzy)

Not going to win any awards for outstanding tone, but it'll be handy with a cigar box guitar when I go canal boating again!

Sweet!  Never actually heard one, but my eyes are always drawn to them when I see one in a store. :D
I read in a guitar mag years ago that Korn had stuck one of those in a drawer with a mic for some effect they were going for on Follow the Leader. That's all the little Smokey trivia I know....

This is the first time I have ever heard of such a thing....but I want one, now! Just the thing is need as an addition to a future project!

Would you be so kind to write up or link to a guide so I can do one for myself?^^

Unfortunately the boxes are a by-product of a nasty habit!

Kilchi: I was thinking of doing a write-up of it, I've got enough parts to do another so I might do it tomorrow :) it's easy enough for anyone to do!!

I've just been playing slide on it, and it fits the style perfectly!

I would certainly love that a lot!

I currently am in a mood to try myself on different diy things and things like these are perfect for getting started, cause it is ok (and to a certain degree desired) if they sound or look a bit cr@ppy^^
