can now say been there, done that :) the gig was not bad. Jack Moore was playing with a band called the Blues Katz. pretty good band, kind of jazzier end of blues. and then him soloing like a loony! definitely some of the ol dad in there :) personally though, i was most pleased by Mirenda Rosenberg getting up and singing a song with them. be interested to see where young Jack goes though, there's certainly plenty of promise.
Leon Hendrix was decent enough. he did just do Jimi songs, which was to be expected. he does play guitar, but he really only strums some chords. there's another guy up there playing all the Jimi stuff. he was pretty good, but it certainly lacked the fire and aggression of the real thing! Leon does a decent enough job of singing, though he has a very quiet singing style, far from belting them out. it all ends up with a more relaxed, easy going version of the Hendrix songs.
so i'm glad i saw him, and i wouldn't tell anyone to stay away, but i have no need to see him again. oh, and he seems like a pretty nice, approachable guy. just glad to be there, doing what he's doing.
