Better Than the ISP Decimator...
« on: May 10, 2012, 12:01:41 AM »
Hey guys! I currently have an ISP Decimator, but that might change soon. I've tried placing it everywhere in my chain, first, last, after the dirt pedals, in the FX loop, but it really hasn't worked out. I'm either still getting unwanted feedback and hum, or after I hit a note and deaden it, it has this cr@ppy fuzzy decaying sound, not a tight end like I want. I've been eyeing the Rocktron Guitar Silencer which has the gate and hush functions built in, but I have no idea what would help at this point. Any help?

I have the reaction hush and had the old 2 channel blue hush before
they work for me in the front of the amps
the new guitar silencer sounds like a great upgrade

Get the ProRackG version of the decimator.

I find that completely solved my issues. Awesome piece of kit. I wouldn't ever consider going back to a single pedal system now!

That or the G-String pedal version. I have one and it works perfectly because you plug your guitar into it first, so it knows what your untouched guitar signal is like, then it has another input that you send to from your effect loop or pedals, or whatever your noise source is and it gates it there. It worked just as advertised, unfortunately I found I don't use enough gain to warrant having it.

I do feel like having double of the same function won't have as much of an effect as it would if you have a pedal that cancels 2 aspects of the noise.
