Goodbye "Duck"
« on: May 13, 2012, 10:59:47 AM »
Just heard that Donald ( Duck) Dunn has died. I suppose the only thing I can say positive is that he died on tour-in the saddle so to speak. When I was playing bass I listened to many players who I gravitated to. The Duck was one of those and therefore I pay tribute at his passing.

Sad news, but I guess he went the way he (possibly) would have wanted.

He was one of those musicians I personally haven't really listened to much, but regard as very famous due to the sheer number of times I've heard his name mentioned in interviews etc over the last 30-odd years.
BKPs I've Got:  RR, BKP-91, ITs, VHII, CS set, Emeralds
BKPs I Had:  RY+Abraxas, Crawlers, BD+SM

Now that's a sad loss. I'm going to dig out some Otis Redding and my bass and jam along to Can't Turn You Loose. For about three hours.

An amazing player with an astonishing legacy. The number of stone cold classic songs he played on is incredible. A great loss.
