oh, boy... the tone...  :D :D :D

I loved the faster response, extra articulation and extra bite of the neck cold sweat in the bridge, but the dog sounds so much thicker and chewie (no star wars pun intendend) in this guitar
it's like going from my 9 months female american field lab Luna (slim, agile as hell, aggressive playing, strong bite) to my BLACK DOG, also 9 months, rottweiler Anakin (slow and gentle, but heavy and bulky, and holds a tug-of-war like a tractor)

oh, I know... pics or it didn't happen:

Hahaha awsome!!  :D How would you compare the Black Dog (pickup, not Anakin  ) to your custom riff raff?

Haha love your dogs :D. Could you tell me if there is a big difference between a Greco LP and a Gibson LP? Because I'm thinking on buying a Greco.

Nice dogs! Btw, how would a Black Dog perform in an alder or ash strat?

well, didn't compare them in this particular guitar, but I had the black dog in the '73 les paul custom where I have the riff raff
the riff raff is hotter due to the stronger magnetic field from the taller custom alnico 5 bar
sounds like a regular riff raff should, but punchier, with a slightly stiffer attack

the cold sweat in the bridge is quite similar to the raff, quite bright, but more upper mid heavy and less punchy, and somehow, even more articulated
very Paul Gilbertish

the dog is more mellow sounding, with a fatter midrange and less top end, softer attack
it feels less hot than both, despite of the higher DC (about 9.3k), but has a slightly grainier center midrange
the Greco has a maple neck and it's definitely a brighter guitar than the Gibson, so the black dog fits it really well
it didn't have enough bite in the Gibson (for my needs)

well, it has a maple neck like the Gibsons from 1976 to 1984
the specs depend on the model and year
mine is a 1978 EG900, tobacco sunburst plain maple top finish, like a '58 les paul standard, but with the maple neck, stock dimarzio PAFs, shitety Greco tuners, quality mahogany (not sure if it's sapele, khaya, or some west indian variety, but certainly not honduran, although that's a possibility), nice looking brazilian rosewood fretboard
the later EG900's from early 80's supposedly have nitro finishes, but mine is poly, like the EG700, or maybe it's some sort of mixed poly + nitro finish like Edwards does today... gotta do the acetone test to figure it out

can't compare it directly to my '73 les paul custom, as they have pretty different specs, but it does sound like a les paul should
I also had an '81 les paul standard with maple neck, and it was bassier and slightly heavier
the Greco sounds better than one that for sure, much more alive, but the lp std had the shitety stock Tim Shaw pickups, so that's hardly a fair comparison
the custom sounds darker and deeper

the only thing that bothers me about it is the sticky glossy feel in the neck
I wish it had a worn naturally reliced neck like my custom (that also has the thinnest neck I've ever seen in a les paul)

been playing the black dog greco and the riff raff 73 lp custom for an hour
damn... the greco sounds bigger than the gibson now
the extra midrange of the black dog and the maple neck really puts some meat on
the riff raff in the custom is no near as middy (I never agreed with the official chart)
I was going to swap the dog for a VHII but I don't think this one can get any better
the custom still sounds more open and clearer, with a sort of Gibbons airy vibe on lower gain, with a lot of sparkly attack
the greco sounds more compressed and midrange focused, and really like this dense type of tone without going high output
loving both  :D

here's a video of the black dog:
