Envelope Filters
« on: May 17, 2012, 03:51:47 PM »
Yo
Does anybody here rock an auto wah or envelope filter type device? I'm really into the idea of getting one but ideally I'd like something simplistic yet nice sounding. I like the old school MXR Envelope Filter for that. Never played one, just going off youtube videos. I don't reaaally want to break the bank on it, but any suggestions are welcome, even better if you have experience of em with guitar.

Guthrie Govan uses a Guyatone WR-3 or one of the newer range (given to him by Guyatone after his tea-tray was nicked).

Also there's the Subdecay Prometheus - that looks like a lot of fun... but a little complex.

I had a Digitech Synth Wah. It does some really cool and crazy sounds, but is quite a lot on the "wild" side of pedals.
Current BKPs: Miracle Man, Nailbomb, Juggernaut, VHII
Past BKPS: Holy Diver, Trilogy Suite, Sinner, Black Dog

Emma electronics discomBOBulator seems like a great envelope pedal. It's really cool fro bass, but I have only heard it used with a guitar once. sounded good though.

I had one, but didn't use it anymore so I sold it. Good tracking, good clear sounds, but you have to fiddle to find the sweet spots.
MXR has some good envelope filters and there are many boutique manufacturers that make ef's.
Mules, VHII, Crawler, MM's, IT's, BG50's.

Which is really good when you remember how to use the thing. Something we completely forgot the last weekend...
