VHII and Stormy Monday and Abraxas
« on: May 31, 2012, 12:23:55 AM »
Hey there, i was just wondering if anyone have tried a guitar with a VHII in bridge and a stormy monday as neck pickup?

If not, what do you think of that combination for classic hard rock with an option of a little mellow rythm playing

yep, i've this combo in a tokai ls 150 & chose them because i wanted nice old fashioned neck tones and good bridge rock tones.great combo.there's plenty of stuff i've posted of them both in players section.

They do seem like they should be a good match, I just haven't seen much of that combo around.

Tell something about the guitar. A lot of pickups are suitable for classic hard rock. Btw I have the VHII in an ash strat and it's fantastic for rock, classic rock, hard rock and even some metal. The RiffRaff will do classic hard rock , so do the Mule and Black Dog. Choiche depends on the type of guitar and used woods. I have Mules in an all mahogany Saint Blues and they rock. I can tell you.

it's an ash charvel body with maple neck!

i was also thinking about an abraxas hows that for hard rock tones as opposed to the VHII

Abraxas would certainly beef up the strat. It's able to do hardrock but still with PAF-pedigree. I think it will fit the ash/maple-combo well. I would pick a calibatred set.

I have tryed the two pickups seperatly but not in the same guitar. I would think the bridge VHII would be a bit too powerfull for a neck stormy monday.

Both great pickups just not sure they would work together. Though I have not tryed it!

I already have the VHII in an alder strat and i love it !! ...would it be a cool combo to put it in an ASH body as bridge and an abraxas as neck or the other way around ?

There's no problem with balance between the stormy/VH11. In fact the neck stormy is louder than the VH11,the cut of
the VH11 levels the difference.

But do those attributes balance out?
