It's my 63rd in a few days, and to be quite honest, I think I've had enough of all this !  :?
Perhaps I need to spend some money on a something new. Maybe a Gibson 175 might do it !
I'll start looking !  8)

A few years until my 40th - by that point half of my kids will be out or nursery and I might even be able to afford a guitar!

Happy Gretsch hunting!
I think I hate being indecisive.

I changed to strats and tele's when I was 35. Sold my Jem 77FP. Never had a Floyd-loaded guitar again.  :D

What's your price range? New, lightly used, or used? There's a few on the bay right now, as low as $2200. I'm not too familiar with this, so I don't know if that's a good price or not.

Yep, but sooner or later we want to add a decent Gretsch to the collection.  I recently tried  a 6120 and, though I like the sounds, it doesn't feel familiar when you're used to Fenders.

Nah, I have yet to feel any urge to buy a Gretsch!

Lovely things to look at and admire, but they're not for me (same applies to Rickenbackers!)

They're quite pricey and I'm afraid a Gretsch won't be a keeper when I buy one. I always end up taking my two workhorses on stage: HSS-strat and the good old tele.

probably got up to £2000 to spend. don't think i'll be getting one in from the states though as i always seem to get shafted by customs. i really only want to buy used incase i get bored with it after 10 minutes and need to sell it on.
i went to see vintage trouble on friday night and nale colt opened the set using a country gent playing slide through a lazy j 40 and it sounded pretty damn good to me!
i know what you guys are saying though,. i've got my go to 335 and les paul so this is a bit of  a luxury purchase.
i'm gonna try one out at andertons next week to make sure i do want one. but even if it plays like a pig, how could you resist buying a guitar with cactus and steers heads up the fret board.

I do understand exactly what you mean!

But - this will sound ridiculous, but bear with me - sometimes in those cases I stop and think about it and realise I could actually make do by finding some good photos rather than spending two grand on the guitar itself (I know that sounds like literal "guitar porn", but it does kinda work!)

Good point. I'm not totally into Gibsons, but I like the look at them, admiring the curves.
