Im thinking about putting an EMG 85 humbucker between two warpigs on my epi SG. So my question is, can you mix an active p/u with passive ones?

^yes, but afaik, you need different valued pots etc. for each.

basically, you can do it, but it's more effort.

You can but it is not avisable, active pickups use 25K pots, and have no ground, so you would need a seperate curcits for the passives and the actives, also you would have a volume imbalance because of the loads that each delivers to the amp. With actives and passives its best to choose one or the other, not both.
