New Neck Time?
« on: June 17, 2012, 08:27:39 AM »
I think that the truss rod may have broken in my Charvel - I was working on it the other day, and something happened to it - not sure what, but when I reassembled it the action was very high, despite the bridge remaining at the same hight.

I tool the neck off to see if there was a problem with the truss rod, but it's completely frozen, unmovable.

Assuming it's buggered, can anyone recommend a decent place for good but inexpensive replacement Strat necks?  Warmoth it very expensive at the moment.

I'm still on "expensive"  ..... but as Tony says there are loads of necks on eBay at different prices.

You had an Allparts neck, didn't you, how did you find that?  They're cheaper than Warmoth.

My two partscasters have Mighty Mite necks and I utterly love them.

Not in a physical way you understand, that would be unwholesome. And difficult to clean off.

Mighty Mite ones look good - I had one that I got through Axes R Us, and it's great, but way chunky with limited options.

I'm a big fan of them. I like the fact that the rosewood cap is so thick, at least twice the thickness of the Fender version. Plus I got a birdseye maple one for a knockdown price.

I misread this - I thought you said New Neck Tie and was expecting a picture of a tartan kipper.  So disappointed.

Yeah - just seen a birdseye maple one on Ebay for about £100, which is awesome.
