NailBomb set?

Right guys, looking at new pickups for my PGM already...

The PAF Pro's just aren't cutting it, no where near as much power as I'd like, really open twangy sounding pickups (although a maple fretboard has something to do with that), any suggestions?

I'm thinking for the thrash metal thing my band do (other guitarist has an EMG81 thru a jmp rack, real harsh cutting tone) I'm going to need enough power for screaming pinches and solos, tightness for the technical riffs yet a good organic sounding tone to compliment the harshness of the other guitarist...in other words, I'm thinking NailBombs.

Anyone got any other suggestions, I don't think much else in the BKP range would be entirely suitable...:(

In that guitar stick with nailbombs. Maple board basswood (?) guitars can be bright. I would stick with alnico over ceramic. 8)

Aye, definatley Alnico over Ceramic, just a little apprehensive as I've heard that the Nailbomb is like a JB, which is a pretty cutting pickup like an 81.

I wouldnt really compare it against the JB, a nailbomb is a nailbomb. I would really recommend you to go for it. If you want any type of clips just ask.

The Nailbomb can be cutting but it's not really a JB. You'll need the Holydiver for a JB type tone. The midrange is different with the Nailbomb - it's a bit more modern sounding than the JB.

I'm just looking for that really smooth lead sound, with a lot of tightness and power for rhythm...

Think of Chris Poland's tone on Megadeth's Peace Sells CD.
