59 slab boards
« on: June 25, 2012, 09:26:05 PM »
Hi all

Whilst I've got the recording stuff out I thought I'd record a quick demo of the 59 slab boards. They're an awesome set, which don't seem to get a huge amount of love around here which is a shame as I think they really nail the strat sound. In the demo, I start on the neck pickup and make my way over to the bridge, and then switch back to the neck at the end. All clean.

Really lovely jazzy strat tone. Great playing. Could you do some more blues/rock oriented stuff with the 59 slab boards? That would be great as like you said it's a set that doesn't really get mentioned often and there's but a few sound clips.

Thanks guys!

Mr Air- I will do a rockier sounding clip if you like, not too heavy but with a TS perhaps?

I've actually got a load of BKPs that I've been meaning to record for a while, including a 63 set, would people be interested in a head to head with the 59s?

Also got mules, stormy mondays in 2 guitars and a PG blues set in a les paul... So will do requests is anyone's interested

Just do 'em all  :D

I would love to hear some rock tones from both the 59 slab board set and the 63 veneer set.

Great playing!

I too would like to hear you do some blues/rock on the 59s. I'm already thinking about a LP project for next year and would love to hear you on the PG Blues as well.

Thanks in advance,

Greg

lovely sound, lovely playing. i don't think it's a question of the 59's not 'having much love around here' but more like the regulars here have already bought their strat pups (before the 59's were launched!)

Sorry I'm rather late at sitting down and listening to your excellent '59 Slab board ( all flavours ) / P.G Blues and 63 Veneer clips.   I posted a reply here,  because it was the ( clean) '59 slab boards that I found most compelling to listen to.

I especially liked the ( neck / middle ? )  blend at about 49 seconds in.  8)  About 10 years ago, I played a CIJ 50s re-issue Strat in a modest but popular  7 piece Soul / R.n.B / covers band - and If I could have had these absolutely gorgeous  pickups / sounds , I would have never put the thing down !

However , I would NOT of course, have had your remarkable playing ability .

As I mentioned on your "unpotted Stormy Monday neck" clips,  the standard of presentation you have brought to the forum, in both musical content and 'live' recording - continues to inspire and impress. Great work.  :D
