Aftermath does Metallica
« on: June 28, 2012, 03:07:01 PM »
As per title - hoping to show that the AM works just great in standard tuning and its not just a 'Djent' pup.
Hope its useful for anyone wondering whether to take the plunge or not.

Cheers man- Mr Hetfield is my 'guitar hero', so if you gonna play his riffs properly you gotta play them like he does it :-)  in other words, downpicking all the way!

Doesn't take much.

For the moment I am using a MacBook Air, PreSonus AudioBox 22vsl, Logic Pro 9, and Toontrack Superior for my drum stuff.  This of course is meant be use as a portable studio so I can travel and record, but I am doing some decent demo stuff right now.

Going to get a stationary set ups as well, but right now, this is good for me.   Besides that, I can record demos, work on the arrangements,  get all of my preproduction out of the way to cut down on studio time.  I'm only interested in going into the studio to record live drums.  I can do all the other stuff else where.  Get all that mixed digitally, then take it back to the studio and slam it hard to tape.  Its going to work for me.

Cheers!

Hey DoomBuggi-thanks for that, i will defo look into some more stuff like that further down the line. I have a portable 8 track which i use to record demos, etc and get ideas arranged into songs, etc. But yes i think i will upgrade my laptop at some point to be able to use more music software on it. Thanks for the pointers!

Asianaxeman- Yes the blackened riff is one of the trickier metallica riffs, especially as its downpicked-once you get it though its great fun :-)

No problem.  I use my phone which is compatible with my computer as a recorder for ideas.  It automatically sends them to my computer once a day.  In the end man, what ever gets the job done is good. You can grab a simple mic of decent quality for a good price of off ebay or something.  They usually will do it as a packaged deal with the mic, stand, and cables to hook up to your unit for a very fair price.  Cheers
