Yeah okay I think I know the tune that the words 'get it on' are sung to (literally only those words) from the telly probably, and I think I've probably heard hole in the sky when I saw Ozzy back in 1994, but I couldn't tell you what it sounds like. did machine head do a cover of it?
Play that funky music, if it's followed by the word(s) wideboy or white boy, then yep heard of that.

All the rest? Not a clue :)

There are several in that list that it's probably near impossible to have grown up in any populous part of the west and not heard a bunch of times. You'll likely just not know the titles. Especially Freebird and Don't Stop Believing.

Just checked out both freebird and don't stop believing on youtube. I've never heard either before, was utterly unimpressed with both and haven't missed out by not having heard them in the last 32 years.

Do I need to point out at this point that I've never been into popular culture?

ooohh ya rebel

I'm starting to wonder how he's even heard of Paul McCartney, given this hermetically-sealed existence he has....  :?

I love it when people say 'Metal' when they really mean 'Glam!'

Sorry, I'm in an uncharacteristically foul mood at the moment. Must have something to do with the shiteting mother in law visiting next week. Again. :/

re: Beatw@ts - a junior school friend of mine played some of their shite at a birthday party when we were something like 6 or 7. From the moment I heard them I realised they were skill-less overhyped bullshitee merchants who did not deserve one iota of respect. I have kept firm to my duty as a human being since.

So was that your last exposure to popular culture?  Circa 1986?

After 6/7 years old people stop inviting the entire class to parties and tend to invite fun people they like... So I guess that explains alot.

Indeed, as it happens we stayed friends for several years afterwards and even went on a couple of holidays together.
Even if he did like the Beatw@ts.

Notice he hasn't denied owning Abba Gold and the Moonlighting box set!

Oh and tekbow - Abba are/were SUPERB. No worries about liking them.

Moonlighting, not so sure...

(And I speak as a man who has the box set in the house - I was even the fool who bought the wretched thing for the lady of the house...)(First couple of series I didn't mind, but later on... sheesh...)

Not sure how this is all helping Elliot in his quest for guitarist-status though!

EDIT: Oh, I know -

Day Tripper
I Feel Fine
Ticket to Ride
Why Don't We Do It In The Road

There's some songs to be going on with...
