P90 orientation
« on: July 06, 2012, 11:26:45 AM »
Pretty sure this has been asked before (probably by me!) but can't seem to find it on a search. Which way round to P90s go? Ie which corner should the wire be in when looking at the guitar from the front?

Cheers :)

I think the wire should be nearest the control cavity for both positions  :)

To be honest, I don't think it makes any difference.

With a humbucker, there are two coils which might be wound differently and/or have different polepieces, so the orientation can make a difference to the sound.  None of that applies to a P-90.
BKPs I've Got:  RR, BKP-91, ITs, VHII, CS set, Emeralds
BKPs I Had:  RY+Abraxas, Crawlers, BD+SM

True Phil. but I'd want to avoid routing the cable under the pickup.  As P90s are screwed into the bottom of the cavity, I'd want to be able to lower the pickup right to the bottom if required  :)

Cheers :) Should've mentioned they're humbucker size p90s so the screwing into the body thing isn't an issue!
