Makes sense!  :)

Going back to the neck profiles, it's true that they seem to vary quite a lot, especially on the Mexican models.  Also, dare I say, Fender seem to be much more lax about providing accurate model specs on their website nowadays.

I recently bought a Thinline Tele neck which was described as a "U" shape so I was expecting something reasonably chunky, but it's actually quite skinny.  On the other hand, I also bought a Classic Player "C" neck which I thought would be just a little bigger than a "Modern C", but it turned out to be very pleasingly hefty.  So you can never be sure!

String spacing at the bridge is 2-1/4".
Just ordered the Warmoth drop-in 2-1/8" bridge.
Nut measures 1-11/16"

It shipped ground over 3 days from Salt Lake City, Utah to Mesa, Arizona, then all day on the delivery truck, they leave the terminal pretty early and my shop is late afternoon on their route.... So it was pretty warm when it got here. Just basically inspected it yesterday, I will tweak the truss rod a bit today after it's had a chance to climatize. Not going to touch the bridge, when the narrow one gets here I'll put heavier strings on it and do a proper set up, probably put a couple SS saddles on the bass strings.

Edit: 'K - tightened up the truss rod nut, it was pretty loose. Neck looks great, plays great, has good tone unplugged, body feels like it resonates pretty good.  Haven't plugged it in yet. Need to get the bridge in and put my .0095's on.

I'd probably still go the self-build route, though, because that way you can pick a body of just the right weight.  Off the shelf Fenders are too hit-or-miss.

OH... For F**K SAKE... why, just why?

I can't take it much longer...  :?

..... and RELAX.

I know it's stupid spending money on stuff I never get round to using, but it keeps me happy (.... sort of).  If we only spent money on things we "need", none of us would actually own very much at all, would we?

I stand by the statement.  But anyway, I said "I'd probably still go the self-build route", not "I will go the self-build route".

Anyway, the guitar looks good!  :D

The neck dimensions sound decent, finish looks great.  I'm a bit surprised it doesn't come with a gig bag - Fender cost cutting?

You know I'm joshing.. well maybe goading but the offer of a build party is always there if you finally crack and I figure we could turn out 3 finished guitars in one day if you buy pizza.  PDT_002 PDT_002

3 guitars in a day?  No chance.  In the very rare instance that I ever actually do anything, I do it properly - and very, very, very slowly.

But the pizza thing sounds good, although I'd have to opt for a low-carb alternative.  :P

OK pizza it is and we'll build ONE guitar together...

Just please don't consider buying a bag of flour, cheese & some pepperoni with the intention of having an actual pizza anytime soon.  :P
