Last night...
« on: July 11, 2012, 10:38:40 AM »
...I used two amps at the same time.

JCM800 + Marshall 4x12 set fairly trebly...
Orange Dual Terror (TT Channel) + Orange 4x12 set a bit thicker...
Gain set to around 7/8 on each amp.

Cor! It sounded lovely, highly recommended. More weight and definition to the single notes, weirdly, I found I didn't need to use any sort of OD for leads either.

EDIT:: Anyone else use this sort of set-up?

I did this recently with two SLO clones. One with E34L and the other with 5881s and had the EQs set to compliment each other. One for the lows/low mids and the other for the highs/high mids it worked out amazingly and was incredibly fun.

I'll be doing something similar asap too with my Splawn Quick Rod and Zilla Fatboy with V30s and my Boyes Amplification SLO Clone and 1x12 with Celestion Classic Lead 80.

When I sold my Orange AD30 head a few years ago the guy that bought it was buying it to use it in a dual setup with a JCM800. In my mind it'd be a great pairing of amps as both would compliment each other really well in my opinion.

I've run a dual rig at home for a laugh, but there's no way I'd bother lugging one to a pub gig

I used a dual amp set up a long time ago but not simultaneously. I tried running a dual parallel amp set up once at home and liked it for rhythm playing much more than for lead and single note playing.

Cheers Stephan

I did this for a good while - first setup was a Marshall Silver Jubilee head and a Fender Tonemaster into a Fender Showman (clone) cab and it was a seriously chunky tone.

Also ran a Marshall Bluesbreaker and an 18w Park 1x10 combo together, and that was a gorgeous tone too - both cranked.  Great tone, but LOUD - don't know how I got away with that back in 2000-2004 period.
