For some reason, I find myself GAS-ing for one...

It's supposed to be similar to the 800 Marshall's, but other than comments on H-C, you don't hear that much about them.

Are they reliable?
Can you re-bias them at home?
What's the general opinion on tone/sound/character?
What are the EQ's like?
etc, etc, etc...

Doesn't sound like Marshall at all. I don't have one, but I used one many times, excellent amp for the money, with it's proper cab. It's no bogner, framus, no, but it's great, lovely with amps distortion, screams, however, the VH and TT kicks its ass. These are really metal/hard rock type amps, not for light rock/blues, if metal and hard rock is your thing, go for it, my mates never had a problem with his. btw, don't buy it for home use, unless you live in a detached house in the middle of nowhere :D, you need to turn these amps up

So the TT series is more suitable for the whole spectrum from blues to metal than the GH50L?

By the way... if you use a hotplate...wont it work for home use?

They have one in my local guitar shop. It's tempting!

Well I never used one, but it doesn't make sense to spend that much on an amp for just home use, if you're giging a lot, and have money to burn, then do what you will. and yeah, the TT is the most versatile but costs a lot more. Crunchy blues stuff I would go for something in the fender range.

Well I do use one, as I can't afford to buy a separate amp for home and for rehearsing/gigging, using a HotPlate allows me to utilise what I have got in both situations.

Yup, the TT has loads of buttons, where the GH's are single channel amps.

Fishing out 1000GBP for a cornford carrera which is the "nice" home solution is much more expensive though than a dual role 50W amp with a hotplate.
