Greetings Ralf ! :)
The Foo Fighters ( and modern Rock in general ) are not my usual listen, but I went over to 'You Tube' to hear a few songs. My abiding impression is that he is using Vintage / medium output pickups, and his 'sound' is them being punched through a cranked Amp. I hear a certain cut and clarity on the edge, that Riff Raffs or even Mississipi Queens would give. I would use Riff Raffs , but Mississipi Queens if you want some thickness coming out of the guitar itself. Traditionally, Riff Raffs are recommended round here for Rock / Rock'n'Roll / many applications where you want that cut and clarity, with a balistic 'snap' to punctuate the chords.
I hope the better informed guys advise as to what they think, but the sound I heard on the Foo Fighter's tracks ( especially Live ) was medium output, with a cutting edge - and a melting amplifier.
* Late Edit*
I found that in a heavier laminate / Basswood 335 copy , the bass strings tended to need brightening / tightening up. They do not have the same resonance of a high priced (thin skinned ) 335.
The more I think about this whole project, the more I say Riff Raffs. :)
