Help with pickups please
« on: July 15, 2012, 09:59:38 PM »
Hi, so I'm buying an Aftermat 7 calibrated set but the problem is that i don't know if I should also buy another volume/tone pot for this pickups to work or if I should buy capacitors for them to work properly.
My guitar is an Ibanez RG1527 with stock pickups V77 and V87, basswood body and Rosewood fingerboard. I haven't done anything to this guitar, never changed anything.
Please help me, I want the pickups so bad!
also excuse my English
Bye

You don't "need" different pots or caps at all, BKP's are passive so will be a straight swap into your guitar. However, new pots and caps will probably improve the sound considerably.

Thank you James! I'm definitely buying new pots and capacitors then, but i have another question, When you are in the Option selection of your set, like covers and conductors, where can I choose the F-Spaced option, or does the Aftermath 7 set is already F-Spaced?

If I recall correctly, the spacing option for seven strings is obsolete. It is only relevant for 6 string PUs.

And yes, especially with my expierence with Ibanez you will do good in getting new pots and caps. While not nececary as James said, they will allow the PUs to work to their fullest potential (again as James said). The pots and caps that BKP offers are highly recommended here. Get their caps and the 550 pots and get the most out of those beautiful AMs.
